sheesh. i don't believe this cover-up for a second.

quite funny tho...

23 October 2000

monday. again.

friday my company got a luxury bus, loaded it with coolers full of beer and sent us to magic mountain. quite the fun time. (before we even got to the park....) it was a trip to be walking around magic mountain with a slew of my co-workers. i'm always amazed with how much fun we all have together... (i'm even more amazed that we all stayed in one big group. ) something about hanging out with people that you usually HAVE to be around, at a time when you don't.

oh, and waiting for the front seat in the front car of goliath is COMPLETELY worth it. highly recommend.

batman, however, nearly made me sick.

no lines = ride after ride after ride in a short amount of time = a woozy, upset stomach and the realization that i'm not 12 anymore.

last time i was at magic mountain, a little over a year ago, i was with a girl and the park was void of the usual crowd mess. we went on like 4 rides; something like viper, psyclone, batman and riddler.

ugh.

i had to tip-toe off riddler, VERY slowly, to avoid losing whatever had been in my stomach that day.

anyway, took a break after batman, going back to the original story, and went on goliath again. that is, in fact, the perfect rollercoaster. (until someone builds a taller, faster one somewhere else.)

went rock climbing in malibu canyon saturday morning. nearly finished an implied 5.10a. that isn't saying much if you talk to anyone who calls climbing their hobby, but considering i hadn't put on my gear in a good 5 months that's pretty good. a fun rock. watch out for that first shelf though, left a piece of my knee on it during my second ascent.

wedding saturday, dinner birthday sunday; hung out with friends saturday nite and sunday afternoon... installed my new system in my truck...

wind kicked up on sunday, blowing huge leaves everywhere... hearing the wind thrust the trees around and feeling the dry air on my skin brought back _way_ too many memories of growing up in t.o... walking to school, recess, trying to carry your lunch around the playground with all that wind thrashing about...

it's been a good time.

Give It A Rest Dept.:

does it really matter who WON the debate?? has anyone you know changed their mind on who they're going to vote for because of the quibbling on TV?

(sigh)

i watched some debates tonite, i don't even know what they were running for.. (state senator??) man, talk about real eloquence! good ol' al and uncle georgie sounded like whiny 4-year-olds compared to these people...

(shudder)

scary? yes.
surprised? nope.

(yawn...)

later...

-cough-

yes, Being Sick.

the joys of waking up nearly drowning in your own phlegm. (tasty...) being doped up on wayyy too many tylenol ultra-severe-maximum-strength-just-like-every-other-tylenol tablets-pills-capsules-etc. and being annoyed that one has to actually get off that couch, and go drive somewhere, only to get some food that costs too much, isn't good for you, and that you can't even taste anyway.

i sort of pride myself on never being sick. [eg. being sick means you're WEAK.] but, i guess it's ok because this is the first time this year that i'm a bit under the weather.

that's ok, right?

well, i assumed that it was and took last thursday and friday off of work. deal with it.

but, i'm better now. now it's but a touch of phlegm in the morning hours, and only 1-2 nose-blows every so often.

it was a nice, relaxing weekend. ended up watching a LOT of TV. rented the movie 'seven,' and took a lot of zinc (among the tylenol doses.)

oh, and i 'm getting the bike ride pics printed today, so i'll have some new stuff on my new non-site here. soon. sometime. whatever.

06 October 2000

another almost-gloomy day in southern CA. another day of non-rain (read:drizzle).

maybe someday i'll move someplace where when there's a "STORM WATCH" on tv, it actually means something.

01 October 2000

i'm back from the ride.

it was a LONG ride, but i finished.

50.7 miles, in 4:15. which is pretty decent for not stopping, or walking, the entire way. there were hills. lot's of them. i'll throw up the topographical map for you to indulge.

we'll talk later. i must go and have a real shower, with real water pressure flowing thru a real american shower head. i know you can't wait to hear about the lovely and gracious hotel i stayed at....
