geez. this looks unbelievable: hi-fi link - movie trailer
                                           lo-fi link - press release

breathtaking imagery. what the ocean should look like in a movie theatre. and no cheesy ads with blonde toothpick wannabe surf chicks.

oh, and incidentally, hollywood ripped off the name "blue crush" from this all girl surf video by bill ballard from a few years back. funny thing is, 2 of the main surfers in the original, rochelle ballard and megan abubo, were stunt doubles for the wanna be surf chicks in the recent hollywood release. so when you see that blonde toothpick riding big waves in the movie, it's actually just her face painted over rochelle ballard's.

anyways, when it comes out, go see Step Into Liquid. if you don't want to go it alone, email me and i'm there.

nearly 2 months since i've returned, and seemingly things are reaching 'normal' status. nice to be driving my truck again, heading out to the beach and hitting up gordon biersch a few times. but, i'm still not used to paying $10 for any meal not eaten at home...

( a few days after i returned, i went to baja fresh. my total was $7.85. i was honestly shocked speechless... )

many things in my home city has changed. and to be honest, it's kind of a welcome site. though an initial feeling of dismay exists when you return home and find that life has carried on and things have progressed without you, i think in the end it would be an even stranger situation to return and discover everything was as when you left. i'm realizing that i enjoy adaptation; it's interesting to find out where i fit into my new envrionment. it challenges me, and changes me. both are always good.

however, all that said, i've found myself driving past the homes i grew up in, the schools i went to, even the paper route i had, if only to receive the rush of memories and remember how things were. remembering what made me who i am now. i'm nobody special. but i've had a great time becoming that.
