these were the 'flowers' that we always had in our lawn while i was growing up... complete with pollenating(?) bee.

we were out walking around the lake today and thought i'd try the macro on my camera. looks as if i have a ways to go... in my defense, getting stung wasn't something i was really looking to accomplish.

(getting stung being what would happen when i was a kid, playing out in the yard with the dog on a cool summer afternoon, not wearing shoes, and happen across these white flower things...)

i love it.

back when i bought my first hard drive for my apple ][gs, which was an external 40 megabyte (not gigabyte...) for about $300, we used to joke about needing a terabyte. that's 1,000 gigs. mind you, this was back when a meg was a BIG DEAL and took an hour to download (off BBS's- we're talking about a time before the "internet" was around).

back then, there were only a few terabyte drives in the world... and surely none were owned by a civilian.

now you can get them anywhere, and, starting this week, for less than $400.

did i mention back then i used to run programs off of discs? 5 1/4" discs?

sheesh. check out the old guy reminiscing...
