2 more hours to go on this 12 hour flight. they’re showing a in-seat stretching and exercise video on the little tv screens and the flight attendants are busily preparing items on their little carts in an attempt to sell passengers some random goods. why people would purchase more things that they would have to cram in their carry-ons is beyond me.
so, once again, i’m moving overseas. i went ahead and packed my life into two 70 pound suitcases, one 50 pound pack and a few carry-ons consisting of a backpack, a laptop case, and my x-box case.
it’s still surreal. even sitting here in my seat on the plane. but exciting all the same. the past couple weeks were full of logistics and packing and buying stuff and saying good-bye. a bit longer this time around, me being gone for 3 years, which makes for that much more stuff to take care of and loose ends to harness.
i’ll be in a new city, working with some new people as well as some old friends. here’s to another adventure, and here’s to inviting you to join along.
and thanks. again. you, my friends, took such good care of me and made sure that before i left, i knew that i was loved and cared for. you will be missed dearly. but i’m convinced that time will move at a pace quicker than we will anticipate and we’ll be seeing each other again sooner than we imagine...
by the way, it's pretty satisfying to be sitting here in south korea and enjoying some pappa john's pizza and chicken strips that mom packed in my carry-on. there's nothing sold anywhere that resembles anything like it within thousands of miles.... yummy.
