on may 1st, i proposed to miranda while visiting her in argentina during may holiday.we were on a day trip to uruguay (just across the bay from buenos aires), and after we had lunch and had explored the little town for a little while, we headed up to a sweet balcony overlooking the bay (that i had staked out earlier) and hung out for a bit. after we reminisced some about our relationship and i gave her a few small gifts from places where we went on our first date (one of those places being gordon biersch), i handed her the next gift, an ipod nano. (this was to replace her "massive" portable CD player, which she was listening to during a quiet time the very first time i noticed her last summer...)
on the back i had her name engraved in english, and then 'will you marry me?' engraved in east asian right below. she turned it over and noticed, and then asked me what the east asian said, looking back at it again. i then made my way over with the ring, got down on my knee, looked up into her eyes and asked her to be my wife. without hesitating, and with her beautiful smile, she replied, "yes!"
everything is different now; unreal! i can't begin to tell you how overwhelmingly blessed and excited i feel... we're planning on a late summer wedding; was already headed back to the States this august, and now it turns out it will be for me to get a wife.
unreal, indeed.
jonathan.
