breaking the t-shirt barrier…
i was on the bus to town today, and something felt different. the people looked different, acted different. the mood had changed. heck, it even seemed the actual bus itself was enjoying itself as it lumbered along old the old concrete path.
even so, nothing had changed since the last few dozen times i used the bus, except, that is, it was actually warm outside…
the windows on the busses haven’t been opened but for a crack here and there for the last 6 months, and even that’s pretty much enough for me to get annoyed that someone is testing my temperature threshold. (on any given day during winter, i didn’t usually see the need to recklessly shiver and hear my teeth clatter for the 28 minute ride to the grocery store.) (but i guess that’s just me…)
today, though, the windows were open. wide open. let it all in, the passengers were exclaiming by sliding the glass on their stubborn tracks. and there was this warm, gentle, massaging breeze blowing about inside the bus that had everyone’s enjoyment. shifting hair, playing with loose papers, and feeding the smiling faces with an unseen fulfillment that i rarely stumble across out here.
i found myself smiling as well, being reminded once again, that we really are all the same… that certain weather and environment demands a response, which today, was happiness and contentment.
if only life really were that simple…
